Body and Soul Ministries provides free medical, dental and optical care to those in foreign countries who typically go untreated. This non-profit organization was started by one man, Dr. John Bailey, who desired to volunteer his medical and dental expertise to people without access to the kind of services that are considered common in the United States. Because of his dedicated efforts, an organization of part-time volunteers and financial donors has evolved which, through their generosity, continues to make a profound difference in the lives of people around the world.

Three blind, singing Indonesian brothers. One heart-warming story from the Sidikalang Eye Surgery Camp in Batak Land in March this year was about the three Simamora brothers who, since about five years ago, could not see because of cataracts.

The three young men, Yanto (19), Liong (22), and Ludig (30) came to the eye screening clinic on their own, with only a prayer that they might get surgery. Once there, the nurse checked their eyes and happily confirmed that all six eyes could be operated on.

In their world of darkness, they sang together with the hope that people would listen and maybe give some money. Their father had passed away and it was the only way to help support their mother and themselves. They are doing great now and passed on a message, “Please say thank you very much to the doctors, everyone who helped us and especially to the brothers from America that helped us to pay the surgery cost.”

We had the opportunity to visit them in October 2011 as guests of Delphi Masdiana Ujung, the head of the House of Representatives of Dairi District, Batak Land – where they serenaded us. See Slideshow and Watch Video.
